ipuke I heard this album years ago. When Firewake came out, I went back and listened to their self-titled and then this and I was blown away to realize I already knew it. Favorite track: Row Row.

MelMelodyWerner this is one of my personal favorites. it's incredibly creative musically, and an excellent concept album. there are barn-burners, there are really heady and emotional moments--and I even love the interludes! Favorite track: Ship On Fire.

Ippocalyptica Yes, I know that I have shit all over similar bands that have blended all sorts of other genres with metal before, but Zeal and Ardor succeed where others have failed because they take bigger risks and, more importantly, know how to stick the landing. Do not look at this as folk mixed with gospel mixed with black metal mixed with soul. Look at this as its own blend of genres that, while quite eclectic and avant-garde, is shockingly coherent and strikingly compelling. Stranger Fruit indeed! Favorite track: Built On Ashes.
